Theatre of the Dead reaches targets, and then exceeds it!

We did it!

We reached our target of $15,000, but then we already exceed it with $16,000 now raised on the IndieGoGo site! Thank you so much to our contributors for your generosity, and for the energy spent sharing and talking about our project!

The trivia night was also a great success with $2,264 raised directly to fund the film. This means that at present the community has raised over 18 grand to make this film happen! THANK YOU!

But this is still not the time to sit back and relax – we still have around 40 hours of time left on the IndieGoGo countdown! Any more contributions we can find before the time reaches zero will benefit Theatre of the Dead in many ways.

Another way to support the film – Come to our Trivia Night!

The Canberra Feature Film Coalition and Theatre of the Dead present to you, the Movie Trivia Fundraising Night! We are hoping to continue our fundraising campaign with this fun night of brain teasing trivia!

The Trivia Night will have four rounds; Comedy, Horror, Action as well as a Movie Clip Round. You will be able to have the opportunity to have your photo taken with some of the Theatre of the Dead Zombies, as well as win some fabulous prizes and Theatre of the Dead Merchandise! You will be able to meet the cast and crew of the film, and hopefully pick their brains about the film. (pun intended)

Dinner will be available for purchase on the night, with a wide range of cafe style food on offer! There will be a licensed bar from 5:30pm till Late!

When: 7 January, 2012
Where: The Canberra Club, 45 West Row, Canberra City, ACT
When: Doors open from5:30pm, Dinner from 6pm, Trivia from 7:30pm until late!
Cost: Tickets are $10/person, or $100/table of 10.

We have broken the $10k barrier! We can only say thank you a hundred times, perhaps even ten thousand times!

But this does not mean we are stopping here! We are still $5000 short from our goal, and with 32 days still left, can we work our way to $20,000? Zombie Extra registration is now open!

If you would like the opportunity to be a zombie in Theatre of the Dead, this is your chance! Round 1 of registration is open to all our indieGoGo contributors.

If you have not contributed, then do not fret! You can make a contribution at any time during the registration period. A $10 minimum contribution is required to be eligible, and we will be looking to favour those who gave higher contributions in where you may appear on camera. Of course, if you become a $500 contributor, you will receive an exclusive Wine and Nibbles film set tour during your Zombie Extra experience!

IndieGoGo awards TotD campaign with “featured” placement

Our IndieGoGo campaign has reached new levels today.

We have now broken the seven grand mark, with an exact figure of $7,135  (correct as of 05.12.11). This is a fantastic achievement with now just under 40 days until the funding period ends.

Further, we received an exciting email from IndieGoGo today, informing us that due to our significant exposure the project has received on IndieGoGo, the project has been placed in their “featured campaigns” section, a place only reserved for campaigns achieving already suitable exposure on the site! This is testament to the commitment of our contributors and already established fan base!

Do you want to be a Zombie Extra in Theatre of the Dead?

With January drawing near, its almost time to send out our Zombie Extra call!

The Zombie call process will involve an online registration form which will be opened on December 10th. Registration through this form will only be accepted.

The registration will opened in a first round offer to all our IndieGoGo contributors (http://www.indiegogo.com/Theatre-of-the-Dead). This is to acknowledge their fantastic support for this film. If you have not contributed as yet and would like to play a Zombie, this is a great opportunity to chip in to our campaign as we expect that majority of zombie spots will disappear after our first round offer.

The second round offer will be opened to all those who submitted casting applications during our casting process back in October and to all those who are currently subscribed to this website – you can scroll down to the bottom and subscribe below.

The third round offer will be to the general public – but we do expect that most spots will be gone by this stage. We have already received a huge response!

Each round will be open for 12 days (and may overlap), and any spots not filled will be left open for registration until the shooting of the required scenes currently planned for Friday 20th January 2012 – Sunday 22nd January 2012. These shoots will be at night until early hours of the morning.

The Official Cast Announcement for Theatre of the Dead

At the end of October, we closed our casting call to nearly 100 applicants, of which, all were vying for just 17 roles (inclusive of bit parts) on Theatre of the Dead.

After two full days of auditions and screen tests, and a further two weeks of deliberation, the team has now made our final casting decisions, and we can happily announce our cast!

Crowd Funding Campaign passes $3000.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

With all the fantastic support so far, Theatre of the Dead’s crowdfunding campaign has passed $3,000, bringing us one step closer to our 2nd major milestone of $5,000. But we still need your continued support!

We are still a long way off our $15,000 goal, which will be essential to cover all our necessary production costs. The $3,000 contributed so far, will help cover catering and makeup expenses during the planned 17 days of shooting in January. We still looking for finances to cover the cost of insurance, legals and theatre hire to name the least.

With less than 60 days left of the campaign, we really hope you can either contribute or share the IndieGoGo profile page to your friends, family and work colleagues. The links are all posted below!

In the coming weeks, behind the scene videos, interviews and images will start appearing on this website, as we begin to step up our pre-production to the next level.
